Yamaha Electric 5-String Violin

The YEV series is a game-changing electric violin that does not sacrifice sound or good looks for price.This versatile electric violin is made from 6 different woods (Ebony, Rosewood, Spruce, Maple, Mahogany and Walnut) that add to the overall organic, natural & resonant sound of the amplified instrument. It uses a passive pickup. Passive (piezo) pickups directly send the signal from the string through the wood, into the pickup and into the amp which creates a dynamic, organic sound. Many musicians prefer a passive pickup to be able to have a naturally pleasant sound coupled with using their volume knob, enabling a multitude of tones without adjusting gain or treble on the amp.The ebony pegs, chinrest and a composite tailpiece are all standard 4/4 size which can be found on traditional acoustic instruments. These fittings can be easily switched out to a players' personal preference. Comes standard with D'Addario Zyex strings, which can also be changed to any other strings. Player can use any bow and shoulder rest. Lower bout will accommodate most standard shoulder rests. Fits in a 4/4 size violin case. Weight 1.2 lbs.
