Through your continued support and dedication in Visual Arts, Jazz, Chamber, Film, and Education, the Westport Arts Center is able to grow and develop innovative programming that offers enriched arts experiences to our community.
A new highlight among our programs is WAC Gives Back, a multi-faceted program that brings therapeutic arts experiences to hospital patients, seniors, and military veterans in Fairfield County.
We recently completed the pilot program for WAC Gives Back at Meadow Ridge Home for Senior Living, where participants enjoyed workshops in new artistic practices and mixed media. The program met with great success. Participants felt they experienced a new lease on life and art, as best described by a 95 year old resident in the program:
"We have made new friends, we've had new experiences. As far as I am concerned, I have a feeling of satisfaction that comes from coming to these classes that I have not experienced in 25 years. Experiences like this, where we use our creativity to one level or another, are very important in staying away from the things that cause dementia. It's been fun, it's been loads of fun."
