ALL HAMLET, IN JANUARY!

 

Music Director and Conductor Salvador Brotons and The VSO take on Shakespeare's great work, Hamlet supported by the wonderful music ofLiszt, Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich and Walton, plus readings by special guest actor, Kirk Mouser.  Please join us for this remarkably dramatic performance January 19th & 20th at Skyview Concert Hall1300 NW139th St, Vancouver.

 

Kirk Mouser

Kirk is the Artistic Director of Stumptown Stages, Portland's resident musical theatre company at the Portland Center for the Performing Arts.  His acting credits include theBroadway and national tours of Les Misérables (Marius), Forbidden Broadway,

Chess, The Phantom of the Opera (Raoul) and Leonard Bernstein's Mass.  His film andtelevision credits include the feature filmUntraceable (Agent Carter Thompson) oppositeDiane Lane and TNT's Leverage (Charles Rushing) opposite Timothy Hutton and Richard Chamberlain.  He has been honored with the Chicago Area Theatre Jeff Award, Best Actor as Che in Evita, and the Portland Drammy, Best Actor as Booth in Assassins.

Thursday January 17, beginning at 6pm.  Please tune in to hear Salvador and special guest star Kirk Mouser discuss The Bard, the music and the high drama involving the "Sweet Prince".

LAST CALL FOR YOUNG ARTISTS!

 

January 22nd is the last day to submit your materials for The VSO 2013 Young Artists Competition.  Please review the Rules and Entry information on our website and/or consult with your music teacher about this competition.

 

Please bring this announcement to the attention of your family, friends, neighbors and anyone else who  might recommend the opportunity for young people to play with our 70+ member, fully professional orchestra.  Also, at stake is $5,250 in cash awards.

 

Last year's gold medalists were Ik Hoon Jung, piano and Angela Tang, violin.
