Bartok: Sonatina for Violin and Piano |
Category: Violin and Piano ** Composer: Bartok, Bela ** Title: Sonatina ** Edited by Andre Gertler ** Publisher: Editio Musica Budapest ** Difficulty: A4.
Though Bartok's Sonatina, Sz. 55, was originally conceived for solo piano, its adaptation for violin is a fitting one. Several of the Romanian/Hungarian folk melodies on which the piece is based were actually fiddle tunes, including the "Bear Dance" in the second movement. The inspiration for the first movement was a set of tunes played by "dueling" bagpipers. This edition for violin and piano is transcribed and edited by Andre Gertler
