A Magical Grassical Christmas
with the DePue Brothers Band

Looking for something new to see this holiday season? For one night only, Indiana Landmarks Center's Grand Hall will be filled with the sounds of holiday music on Tuesday, December 9 at 7:30 PM, when the DePue Brothers Band, including violinist brothers Alex, Jason, and Wallace, returns to Indianapolis for its first Christmas show! A Magical Grassical Christmas is a non-stop celebration of traditional holiday favorites along with original tunes that will have toes tapping, hearts warmed, and spirits filled with holiday joy. Think bluegrass meets rock, meets renaissance, meets jazz, meets classical, of which the sum of all parts equals a kaleidoscope of holiday fun for everyone! Wonder what this sounds like? Enjoy a Medley of Carols and Good King Wenceslas by clicking on the titles.

This concert, co-presented with Indiana Landmarks, is part of the 2014-2015 IVCI Laureate Series, Title Sponsor Printing Partners.

FIREHOUSE 12 TO PRESENT MANUEL VALERA TRIO

On Friday, October 10th, Firehouse 12 is pleased to welcome back pianist Manuel Valera and his trio featuring bassist Hans Glawischnig and drummer EJ Strickland. Manuel performed with saxophonist Russ Nolan last season. This show will be recorded for an upcoming CD release next year.

Valera "leaves no doubt that he is destined to play a role in the future of jazz" (Philip Van Vleck, Billboard) His album New Cuban Express was called "one of the best new Latin Jazz releases we've heard this year (or in a while, frankly)" (Bill Tilford, Timba.com). "With New Cuban Express, Valera stakes his claim for the establishment of a new sound in fusing rhythms of Latin [Jazz&91; with elements of modern/fusion" (Edward Bianco, EJazz News).

Manuel Valera is a 2013 Grammy nominated artist. He was born and raised in Havana, Cuba and is currently living in New York City. He has performed with notable artists such as Arturo Sandoval, Paquito D'Rivera, Brian Lynch, Joel Frahm, among others. His band New Cuban Express released their 6th album in 2012 and it was nominated for a 2013 Grammy in the Best Latin Jazz Album category. His new album In Motion was released on Criss Cross Jazz in September 2014.
